NHS CPFT Older People’s Mental Health Service

Back to Support

CPFT's Older People's Mental Health (OPMH) Service provides help for those over the age of 65 with complex mental health and/or memory problems.

Accessed via a referral from your GP, this service is for those over the age of 65 with more complex mental health problems (such as anxiety, depression, psychosis, bi-polar depression) and/or memory problems.

You will be offered assessments and interventions with different professionals depending on your needs. This might include psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists and support workers.

They will work together as a team to improve your mental wellbeing. The sort of help you may be offered might include medication, psychological therapy (either individually or as part of a group), occupational interventions and interventions by nurses. Depending on your needs, appointments will be in person at the clinic, at your home, on the phone or via a video call.

If you need support with your mental health, remember you can always reach out to your GP. If you need urgent help, please call the First Response Service on the NHS 111 helpline and select the mental health option.
