Reach Community Projects is a charity that tackles poverty in and around Haverhill. It needs volunteers to help with a variety of tasks - from short-term projects to regular roles.
This activity is good for wellbeing because
- doing something for others feels good;
- it will grow your social networks locally – forming relationships with people you might not ordinarily get to meet;
- volunteering grows skills and confidence.

What to expect
Reach relies on a team of volunteers who offer their time and skills to support local families in need.
Volunteering opportunities generally take place within office hours (Mon-Fri, 9am to 5pm). All training and equipment will be provided. Some roles may need a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Roles include:
Foodbank volunteers
Managing donated stock and packing emergency food boxes at our warehouse, as well as driving to collect donations.
Client support volunteers
Assist with issuing food and providing support to people in need at Reach’s Resource Centre.
Chaperones for the Outreach Team
Accompanying team members on offsite meetings with individuals and families who need support.
Fundraising
Helping Reach raise funds through challenges, sponsored activities, events and sales.

Reach Community Projects started life as a debt counselling service, but now tackles poverty, debt and homelessness in a variety of different ways. It’s headquarters is in Haverhill, but it also supports people living in villages on the Suffolk and Cambridgeshire borders. Reach has also recently opened up an outpost in Newmarket.
